The Impact of Personal Characteristics On The Use Of Information Technology In Central Sector of Public Management In Saudi Arabia

Abstract

This study aimed to now the impact of  personal characteristics on the use of information technology in central sectors of public management in Saudi Arabia from the side of knowing of degree of implementing or using information technology in these sectors , to introduce suggestions that can increase the use of information technology in central sectors of public management in Saudi Arabia defending on the study’s findings.

 

This study included 384 employees from all management levels ( Top – middle – low ) out of 5545 employees.

 

The researcher has rely on – in his research – a survey that ha questions related to personal characteristics and information technology .

 

The study has reached many findings, the following are the most important it :

1.      ( The study’s findings) confirmed a positive relationship between the personal characteristics and the use of information technology.

2.     It confirmed that there is no relationship between the education degree and the use of information technology .

3.     It confirmed a positive relationship between the professional experience and the use of information technology.

4.     It confirmed that there is no relationship between the job descriptive and the use of information technology.

5.     It confirmed a positive relationship  between the age and the use of information technology.

6.     It confirmed that there is no use of intranet and intern in the central sectors.

7.     It confirmed the majority of people working in these sectors are youth, so the studies in this field are still in its first steps in Saudi Arabia.

8.     It confirmed the lack of technical knowledge of information technology .

The study has reached to the following suggestions :

1.     Making training programmes for employees from all different levels to then on how to deal effectively with information technology.

2.     Intranet should be used in ministries to benefit from time, effort, cooperation, and word nation and to avoid duplicate work.

3.     Manager and their assistant should be encourage to the use of information technology and how to get information out of it, to empower then in achieving their work and improve their ability on benefit from it in the right time.

4.     Because the majority of ministries employees are youth, so they have extra tendency to improving and change. The employees should be improved by setting appropriate programmes such as the use of information technology.

5.     Providing a personal computer to each single employee to make the flow of information between the employees easier.
